According to the resolution of the Government in 1928 the construction of a gum rosin and turpentine plant “Belorussky batrak” was started in Borisov. Construction was finally completed in October 6, 1929. The plant was located on the western outskirts of the city, in a pine forest area, at 2.5 km from the station Borisov and at 200 meters from the railway Moscow-Minsk. The enterprise capacity in processing of crude gum in the initial period was about 1,000 tons per year, with output of 750 tons of gum rosin and 150 tons of turpentine oil. In 1936 the plant was reconstructed: a brick building workshop was built instead of the old wooden one, two new gum-rosin-boiling stills were mounted, a new boiler plant was installed, and three steam boilers “Schuhov” with a total heating surface of 80 sq.m were mounted.
